2021 FT Associate Recruiting

Hi Everyone,

I am at a T20 MBA who interned at a LMM PE shop but still recruiting for FT IB Associate roles that will start in the fall and wanted your advice on the following:

1) Is it still possible to recruit for these roles?

2) Which banks should I target? Are GS/JPM/MS out of reach?

3) Which groups should I target? Should I target NY or regional offices? Where will I have the best shot?

4) Any other advice?

Thank you.

Did you intern in PE hoping to convert to FT in PE? In my mind, that's the big elephant in the room. AFAIK, FT recruiting for Class of 2021 took place last fall. GS/JPM/MS is a long shot IMHO, would focus on MM or boutiques, but if you didn't do IB pre-MBA I think you'll have a tough go at it in this environment where new campus hires aren't fully ramped up because of WFH, and the desire for "plug-and-play" bankers is stronger. In addition, the lateral market heating up considerably. Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong.
