3.1 from Ross Investment Banking
Hi I have a 3.1 in Ross (undergrad) and I have been dead set since high school on investment banking. I preferably want to land a job at a BB but am open to any job that will eventually bring me to the buy side.
I am working s&t at a small firm this summer and am about to enter my junior year. I have held various positions in different groups at school and demonstrate fantastic leadership outside of the classroom.
My question is, is it possible that I can land a job at a BB with little pre-existing connections? If not, what's the best route to find a good job and keep the largest amount of exit-option-doors open?
Shoulda partied a little less buddy
I really dont understand how kids can fuck up their GPAs so bad especially if you have been "dead set" on IB since high school. Also it worries me that you attend a great school with presence on the street and yet you have no connections. Seems to me your are lazy but its a real shame though you will still land a internship over other kids.
GPA cutoffs will screw you for pretty much all the top shops. Probably shoot for a smaller place for now and actually put in some effort towards your school work. There's a chance you could recover and go for a well-known place down the line.
Assuming you've taken 20 classes already and have 20 to go, the highest GPA you can get is 3.55. What's the cutoff, 3.6?
Start networking.
Recruit with end of junior year GPA so potentially could get to 3.4 in best case scenario. Does Ross do 4.3s for A+?
