Advice for freshman trying to gain some experience (IB or consulting) and cold calling?

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to land an internship as a freshman while going semi/non-target. Unfortunately, a lot of places require sophomore/juniors and higher so my resume is getting overlooked. I'm unsure how cold calling (emailing) would go but my school does not offer much for freshmen. I believe that still being young, I have a bit of leeway for what I want but I see myself doing something in consulting/IB. Any advice is appreciated! Also, I am applying to NYU so hopefully I hear some good new!
