Advice for Non-Target Intl Students

Hey,

I’m currently finishing my junior year at a non-target school as an international student.

Here’s my current setup:

• This summer (junior year) I’ll be doing a either Corporate Banking internship outside the U.S. at an Intl BB, but I also have the option to switch into IB at a small boutique also outside the U.S. • After graduation, I have a PWM internship offer at a BB in NY, with a high chance of converting into a full-time offer. • I’ve done another finance internship previously, but nothing directly in IB yet. • My long-term goal is to break into Investment Banking, ideally in M&A or LatAm coverage.

Would really appreciate advice on:

• Should I stick with the Corp Banking BB internship or take the IB boutique offer abroad to help position for IB? • Would doing the PWM internship in NY and then going straight into a Master’s (Finance or Accounting) be a good move? Or should I work for a year (likely in PWM) and then do a Master’s? • Is an MBA down the line a more realistic route for someone in my position? • Has anyone made an internal move from PWM to IB, and how realistic is that path? • Any advice for international candidates trying to lateral into IB post-grad?
