Advice needed for non-citizen
So i'm about to be a recent graduate from a non-top business school. I received my degree in economics spring 2016, and will graduate with my "mba" in spring 2017 after doing an integrated program and achieving good grades in both. I thought this might make me more competitive in the job market compared to those who graduated from better schools, but that is not the main point. My main problem is that I am not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Technically, my immigration status is deferred action, so I have work authorization that is renewable in two year increments. I was hoping to move to Charlotte when I graduated because they have a lot of entry-level opportunities, but every program I see with JPM, BoA, Wells Fargo, and even just jobs with Vanguard and etc, seems perfect and like something that I would love to apply to, but they require work authorization on a permanent basis or say that they can't consider me at this time because I am not a U.S. citizen.
I can't seem to find much information on others going through the same issue that I'm facing, so I figured I would attempt to reach out and see if anyone had some helpful advice. Is it just a problem that I'm encountering in North Carolina because it's a conservative state? Or is it an industry-wide issue that will prevent me from getting a job until I can have permanent status? I'm optimistic that there must be some way because of the book My (Underground) American Dream: My True Story as an Undocumented Immigrant Who Became a Wall Street Executive by Julissa Arce, but I wanted to see if anyone on this forum could help. Please feel free to message me personally as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
