Advice on company verification checks?

Hi all,

In a bit of a dilemma here. About 2 years ago I did a 6 mo internship at a small PE firm (around 3-4 guys). I didn't keep in touch after leaving but kept it on my CV. I've accepted a summer offer at a BB, and they are supposed to start background checks soon and I have been trying to get in touch with all the places I've done work experiences/ internships listed on my CV to let them know what is coming their way, but I can't get in touch with anyone from this PE firm since they've apparently dissolved -- I would have taken it off my CV but I haven't been checking (I know, really stupid of me, unfortunately!). Site has gone down, company registration is marked dissolved, and the e-mail addresses have since been taken off line for my old manager.

Can I explain this away to the BB or will this affect my passing of the background checks? Making it clear that I did not lie about this experience (I was there!), but it is really frustrating now I can't get anyone to corroborate!

Would really appreciate any and all advice. Thanks!
