advice on corp dev / strategy at a faang or large tech company from IB?
hey guys current IB analyst in NYC at a solid group. Not interested in PE at all. I really want to do corp dev or some type of strategy / growth role at a FAANG or Airbnb, Uber, Door dash, grubhub type company.
It seems like headhunters typically do not have these opportunities. I tried reaching out to recruiters for these companies directly on LinkedIn, but haven’t had much luck / responses.
Any tips or guidance is heavily appreciated.
Typically for all roles in FAANG it's about referrals. Your best bet is to create an account on Teamblind and ask people who work in those companies for a referral to open positions. Finance/Strategy is considered a cost center in FAANG so the priority is lower, recruiters typically are more proactive to SWEs.
Also these roles got slashed pretty heavily during the recent layoffs so there may not be a lot of open positions anyway. Just keep patient and look through the job postings. FAANG don't use recruiters unless it's super senior roles, all their roles are posted online
