Advice on how to break into finance as an IR student

Hey guys,

I'm a current Master's student at a top IR school specializing in International Economics, International Finance, and Emerging Markets. I'm very interested in opportunities on Wall Street in risk management, Asset Management, or macro research, especially those with an emerging markets focus. I know that companies like JP and Citi have Global Country Risk groups and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit more about this type of work and how to get my foot in the door. My background is in public policy and international relations and I'm taking a lot more finance/economics coursework with the hopes of getting some exposure to the financial world through a summer internship. I know I'd be going up against MBA students, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
