Am I Getting Ghosted?
Two weeks ago, I had an interview with an HR rep for a FT sell-side research position that went very well. They were really engaged, impressed with my qualifications, and told me they are looking forward to working with me through the recruiting process. They gave me a timeline of when they would be starting managerial interviews and reaching out to candidates to let them know if they made it or not. I sent an email later that day thanking them for the opportunity and they responded saying if I had any questions to just email them.
Last week was right in the middle of that timeline for being reached out to that the recruiter gave me but I haven't received an email from anyone from the firm. I emailed the recruiter asking if they could please provide an update. Fast forward another week to today and the recruiter still hasn't responded to my last email nor have I been reached out to by anyone from the firm. Based on the timeline, interviews are probably still going until the end of next week, but commenced earlier this week.
Do I swallow this pill of disappointment now and just accept the fact I've been ghosted? Is there some chance I will be reached out to before they stop interviewing? Should I reach out again, asking if there have been any developments with my application? It's a huge firm so I'm hoping things are moving slower due to volume and the HR department is just slammed. Thanks for the feedback.
Just follow up, it can't hurt and will keep your name in their minds. GL!
Sounds like everything went really well. Unfortunately it may have gone really well for a number of other candidates too. I would certainly reach out one more time, and inquire about the next steps. If you have any contacts with the firm, now would be a good time to reach out to them as well. I would do this then assume the worst, and try and move on as much as possible, continuing your search process. Doesn't sound good at this point but it also doesn't mean you're out of the running. Processes oftentimes get delayed regardless of firm size. I have been in this exact situation more than once and had it go both ways. No one on here can tell you how it'll play out for certain, so reach out again and then keep your fingers crossed.
Which firm is this? I interviewed with a firm last week and was told that they aren't recruiting anymore for FT spots.
Call. Too easy to ignore emails.
