Am I screwed ?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some career advice and hoping to hear from others who might be in a similar position. (I’m 22, by the way.)

I recently graduated from business school with a 3.14 GPA (I know, not great), and I’m currently feeling quite lost and confused about my career path. My first job out of university is at Gartner as an Account Manager (sales), but I’m starting to realize it may have been a mistake. I’m worried that I might be stuck and unable to pivot into finance or even consulting (which is a discussion for another day).

I do have some experience in finance through an internship I completed at BNP Paribas in the Structured Products and Derivatives department, and I’m hoping that experience could still be useful. Additionally, I interned at Gartner before landing my current role.

Given my background, I’m wondering if I still have a chance to break into finance or consulting. Honestly, I held off applying because I felt my GPA and coming from a non-target school made me uncompetitive, and I feared not even passing the AI screenings.

If I decide I want to leave my current position in a year, do you think I would definitely need a master’s degree to make the switch? Or is there still a chance with my profile to get into finance or consulting through networking, etc.? Also, do you think that taking a job in sales has worsened my chances of moving into these other industries?

I know this is a bit messy, but I’d really appreciate any advice or insights.
