Am I totally screwed?
Hey Guys,
So here is my situation:
I'm a senior at a nontarget school with only one wealth management internship under my belt. Plus I'm in an area where few firms recruit/ hold networking events. I'm looking for a summer analyst position over the summer. I'm aware that bulge brackets are not really an option for me but I'm having trouble figuring out the best way to go about networking with boutiques. Was anyone in a similar situation as me and managed to land an internship and if so whats my best course of action as of now?
Man up dude. If you have a 3.3+ GPA, have good communication skills, solid extracurricular affiliations/activities and a good resume, chances are you still can get in. Its gonna take some heavy networking though.
My advice write down the top 20 IB's on a list, and apply to all of them. Look up a contact email for their recruiters and send them an email: "introduction...recently applied and am looking to learn more about the "FIG" group (or any other group) could you please put me in contact with someone in that group" something along those lines.
If you have friends at banks or know people at your school that interned in IB, ask them to refer you to an analyst and send them a similar intro/interest email. I warn you it is a lot of tedious bs, specially filling out application after application, but it will drastically raise your chances of being considered.
I am assuming you are not graduating before the summer, if so you have no chance at an internship.
Good luck in the process.
