More and more stuff I see there's a big need for accountants. I intially started my career in accounting, some of it can definitley be a drag but there are some interesting roles out there that can get parlayed into something else. Warren Buffet has always said the best key to investing is understanding accounting, just wondering anyones thoughts.

True, I'm thinking more someone setting up their own shop. I know a lot of people here talk about starting their own business.
Could also transfer in at a higher level into big 4, maybe on the consulting side.

Had a big 4 audit internship and hated every single second of it. The work was boring and all they let me do was “roll forward the work papers” which essentially meant check the same boxes as we did last year. From what I could tell, none of the associates did work either though. I genuinely can’t remember anything else I did basically the entire time other than go to happy hours with our team (everyone I met sucked so this was more painful than the work). The FT return offer was laughable (i.e. sub $60k in 2022) even though I would have worked in a bottom tier LCOL city. The culture was probably the worst part in my opinion though, lots of inclusivity bullshit and beta people.

I'd rather be a professional gambler and go bankrupt then kms than become an accountant in any capacity
Pretty much what everyone else said here on top of the fact that you always have to think late at night "why didn't I go into finance?"
