Applying during a gap semester

So, I'm currently a class of 2024 (entering my junior year), but for various reasons, I was considering taking a gap semester this coming spring. A few questions:

  1. If I took a gap semester this spring (therefore went from expected graduation in spring 2024 to December 2024), would I be able to reapply for junior summer internships during that time? (Like, are there any rules against applying during a gap semester?).

  2. I actually have accepted an offer for junior summer IB from last spring; I'm assuming that offer would just disappear if I chose to gap and not roll over? (I don't wish to convey that I would take a gap for the sole reason of reapplying to get other offers; it more has to do with some personal issues, but getting to reapply would be a bonus I suppose as I was not super prepared during last spring's cycle)

If anyone had any insights on this or has gone through something similar, please, please PM - in a dire need of some advice
