Applying for new roles after having just started?

I started 3-4 months ago at a small L/S fund in a tier 3 (but really nice to live in) city. I really enjoy my work, am paid fairly well, and don't necessarily want to leave the seat yet. However, I just came across a really interesting multi-B NYC HF position (not a HH or Mercury lol), and I want to apply as I want to at least give myself a shot at stepping into a better, faster lane with better mentors, resources, and exposure early in my career. However, I'm nervous if my fund were to find out that I was applying elsewhere, I'd be f****d. Obviously, long shot to both get hired and for my firm to find out that I was looking, but wanted to get perspectives.

Lmk what y'all think. Thanks.
