Asked to fill out online application after in-person interviews.

Around two weeks ago, through networking, I landed a virtual interview for an S&T analyst position at an investment bank.

They asked me the same day whether I could travel for a series of on-site interviews in three days - I told them yes, and organized travel + accommodation.

The interview day consisted of a series of interviews with MDs, EDs and VPs of various desks (6 in total). The questions were pretty straightforward for the most part - a lot of behavioral, some technical and some macro / news questions. I feel I did pretty good with behavioral, struggled with some technical, but all around bonded with most interviewers.

So after writing the usual “thank you” notes and waiting a few days (7), I reach out to let the main interviewer know I’m under some time pressure due to a conflicting offer, but that I would be more interested in joining the interviewer’s team.

A day later, I received a fairly short email from the interviewer, thanking me for my follow ups and asking me to fill out an official application for “any role” on the firm’s website. He also states that “We (or rather) HR will then be in touch soon”.

As I’ve little experience with finance interviews in general (having done tech related internships in the past), I’m unsure what this could mean. Is it a bad sign or rather neutral?

I could imagine the bank either needs to have a few official “rejections” for every role for due process, or do they want to do a sort of KYC check before serious consideration…?

Thanks!

Had the same thing happen, just a formality for hr to have you in their system. wouldnt fret about it.

Yeah - have had same thing happen. Interviewed before filling out info on website. Received verbal offer, then filled out HR paperwork.
