Asking coworker/mentor whether to take competitor's offer or not?

Currently a senior in college with a signed return offer to the bank I interned at and an exploding offer from a competitor. Wondering how y'all think about this: how weird/frowned upon it is to ask your mentor in the same company for opinions on your offers?

The mentor in questions works in an adjacent team to my group, is not my direct hiring manager, but has provided me many great feedback and advice throughout the summer for career in general. My group is a bit niche and I don't know too many people who are qualified to comment on the outlook of it other than him or my managers. I personally trust him and would like to know what he thinks about what's best to do, but not sure if this is a absurdly stupid move. Obviously he might be a bit biased but I am more worried about whether I am going to burn a bridge simply by asking.

Appreciate any input.

I was wondering the same. According to poster above, should be ok if you trust them.

One crucial thing I can think of: if it’s okay don’t ask this by emailing them on their work email!
Either personal or face to face.

Thanks for the comments. Ya I was thinking I will prob just give him a call or smt like that since I have his number.

I think it's good to get feedback from him. If he's been mentoring you then I'm sure he wants what's best for you in the long run. I would definitely do it in private though.

Honestly forget the advice we can give you and do what your gut tells you.
