Being ghosted never ends - Never heard back after 4th round interview for a lateral with positive feedback

Analyst 2 here trying to lateral from a top tier MM bank. Recently, I had what seemed like a successful interview process. I spoke with four person, ranging from VP to MD, in four interviews. The MD concluded our conversation by mentioning he received very positive feedback from "both his team and the people I worked with”. I said to myself it was almost done. Maybe another round with a more senior MD/group head, but I was getting there. Great.

However, after that, complete radio silence. I followed up with the VP who arranged the interviews, but no response. It’s been almost two weeks now. I know the industry, I know the game. It’s fine, I’m dinged. But why can’t you tell me?

You’re moving on with another candidate? Ok, just tell me. You need more time? Ok, just tell me. You literally gave a me a positive feedback and even asked if I already knew about the next interview. Come on man.

I always put my effort in treating candidates in the best way possibile and literally can’t understand why people don’t give a f*ck about it. So please, guys, let’s try to make this industry a better place. Let’s try not to ghost people after 4 interviews.
