Benefits of working at a BB over other places?

I'm in grad school, considering a career in finance, and still learning about the financial industry. I hear a lot about bulge brackets and it seems lots of people want to work in one. But why is it so great to work at a BB? They don't necessarily pay better than boutiques. What are the benefits? I am interested math-heavy roles in structured derivatives / exotics and quant shops. Not going the investment banking route.

Does working for a BB matter much in my case?

All about the name and usually bigger deals.

Aren't deals more related to IB? If you're not working in IB would bigger deals matter?

Honestly, if you are looking at getting on a trading desk, I have a feeling for you there isn't much to be gained with the brand name of a BB, except of course being able to put it on your resume. That's always worth whatever your next employer is willing to pay, so to speak. But the more quant-heavy your role, I have a feeling the less you'll care. After all, numbers are the be-all end-all, not so much prestige as it is for bankers. Quant opportunities might be better at a BB vs. a boutique shop, but if you're also looking at prop shops, then you might already know where you really want to end up anyway. These are just my observations from conversations with others, take what I have to say with a grain of salt.
