Best D1 sport for recruiting IB
I’m just wondering which sport is really helpful in recruiting. Maybe most interviewers play it or follow it. I’m thinking of running and basketball but curious to hear other people's opinions.

Career Resources
D1 bowling teams are notorious for placing into top FIG groups
As long as you can explain why the sport has improved your attention to detail, commitment to something greater than yourself, dedication and discipline, it doesn't matter what the sport is.
I mean it’s obviously lacrosse lol. The only sport with ETF commercials during breaks.
D1 water polo will guarantee you not only your pick of JPM/GS/MS, it will also ensure you get into MF PE.
And the girls
I was an all-american on my D1 flute team. The banks really seemed to like my skills.
Lacrosse, Rowing and Tennis
& golf
Golfer here, how do you use it in recruiting. Chatting during interviews or when cold emailing?
rowing for sure
~
Lacrosse, rowing, swimming, wrestling, football, basketball.
Michigan, Duke, Virginia if you can.
Additional benefit of wrestling:
If you wrestle you can put in your application that you're gay because as a wrestler your head is always in someone's crotch
I wrestled at a nationally ranked D1 team (top 15). I cant say it has helped me. Only thing is I can put my interviewer through the table if I really wanted to.
golf is good too. personally broke into BB as a non-target with golf by shooting the shit with md's who play golf during networking calls/coffee chats
Which school ?
why would i dox myself lol. its a ncaa d1 school in the southern states.
Who do you think can recruit better: someone from Harvard or d1 athlete from Michigan/uva/duke? Assuming the same GPA, experience, and extracurr
Those schools aren't really close at all. UVA Michigan Duke with large gaps between each.
What about Ross vs Virginia?
I’m guessing you are saying duke is better than Michigan and that is better than uva (hard to tell from what you wrote there), although I would say uva is a better placing school than Michigan.
Regardless, I would argue there isn’t a big difference between these schools (traditionally duke had better reputation, although not across entire street).
edit: see you changed up the “>” to ““, that makes more sense (duke being better than the other two). Still think uva and Michigan are pretty close (with Duke a bit better reputation).
Wait...you're good enough in basketball to casually walk-on to D1 basketball teams of your choice? Lemme see your mixtape
Rowing. It’s also great because you can walk on with no experience at most schools.
Doesn't this make it less attractive?
Yes
Here, all the cool kids to either rowing, tennis or parade-riding (if you´re a girl and/or noble)
noble???
I’ll save you some time, you aren’t walking onto a D1 team.
Is the bar lower for athletes (GPA, internship)?
From what I have seen, D1 athletics really helps for S&T. Not sure about IB. It definitely overshadowed a lack of experience or a slightly lower GPA. You still can't have a 2.4, but it shows the ability to work and handle stress.
From experience, football would be very difficult. I stopped playing but was at a mid-major D1 for football. It is 100% a full-time job with expectations to be there all summer. I would imagine most sports are as well.
Wtf is running
D1 cricket places you in an EB of your choice
Former female coxswain who was on the D1 men's rowing team. It came up a bunch of times in interviews, but I don't think I used it to network.
