Biggest Outright lie you've done or seen on a resume?
What's the biggest outright lie you've ether put on or seen on a resume? Not saying you should lie, or it's moral, but as I go through my career it's surprising to me how much of it can actually be made up because people don't check
Of course, some might embellish on their resume, and you may get caught in a if you say you went to Harvard or were in the military if you meet someone who actually did those things, but some has to be lying about those things, right?
Not resume, but at old firm, got an email blast from some AM group and their bios all listed Wharton so looked them up on LinkedIn and they all did some 1 week Wharton certificate program lmao.
couldn't believe they were putting that in marketing materials as the singular line under 'education' for like 8 team members
I see a lot of people who do something like this, get certificate and blast they are ivy league on Linkedin
And he got the job because his uncle made us hire him. He was horrible
that's funny...on one hand I can believe that people say they have fake degrees because people will lie on anything.
How'd you figure out the degrees were fake or people lied?
There is a surprising number of application processes where the degree isn't verified, so a lot of candidates get away with it.
An educational verification often happens when...
- a promotion is given and above a certain seniority level it has to be checked
- security clearances are required (gov agency/3rd party checks degree)
- in some companies the degree is verified when someone enrolls in special training courses or becomes a line manager (people manager)
- a visa sponsorship is required
What industry was this?
How do you ever get away with a fake company/title, when the background check firms call all past employers?
