Biotech/Bioinformatics PhD graduate suggestions
Hi All,
I am graduating soon with a PhD in bioinformatics/computational biology from a very highly regarded school. My undergrad was in math/cs from a “target”
I am starting my job search and I was wondering what kind of roles in finance might best leverage my skillset. I’m interested in early stage biotech venture capital funding and biotech/bioinformatics startups in general. What would be the best way to try to enter these financial side of the biotech industry? Options I am considering are life sciences consulting/equity research/banking, joining/creating a startup in a computational role, joining/advising a biotech VC/incubator as an advisor or founder, or quant roles. Quant/trading roles have a lot of skill overlap but the interview prep seems really grindy and I’m not sure how good I would be at that. I am not well versed in the recruiting landscape for these sorts of things though, nor the compensation/mid-late career upside. Any advice is appreciated.
