Breaking into BB in HK: HK SA 2026

Hi folks, I'm currently based in HK and applying for 2026 Summer Analyst role here. I previously interned at a pure-play private bank, and I’m now aiming to join a BB with main focus on wealth management and private banking.

From what I’ve observed, many hires last year—especially in S&T and IBD—came from US universities. In the two years prior, Korean candidates seemed to dominate the IBD scene. For WM/PB, I haven’t noticed a clear hiring trend in terms of nationality or background.

Curious to hear what bulge bracket firms in HK typically prioritize when evaluating candidates. What sort of background could get one into BB in HK, and are there noticeable differences in what BBs look for in APAC versus the US or Europe? Would really appreciate any insights or experiences you’re willing to share, could be anything about application timeline, networking, interview prep, or what helped (or didn’t help) you land the offer.
