Breaking into IB in Canada (or the US)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a serving officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. I've been in the army for about 2 years full time and was in the reserves part time through most of undergrad. I'm looking to leave the Army in the next 1-3 years and attempt to break into IB in Canada (or the US). I would like to remain in Canada if possible so I can remain a member of the reserves, just to stay in the system in case something spools up in Europe.

What I want to know is what is the likely path for a CAF vet to a role in IBD in Canada? Would I need to do an MBA? Would writing the CFA L1 help? Or would it be possible to break in straight out of the army?

Some info about me/my situation

-Undergrad was at McGill where I majored in finance. GPA is 3.56

-Very little ECs in undergrad (was in a fraternity and did some charity stuff but no major leadership roles)

-Was in the army reserves in undergrad where I did hold a leadership role (commanded a rifle platoon of 35 troops)

-Did a domestic 'deployment' as part of the government's COVID response

-Currently serving in an airborne unit

-No overseas deployments, may possibly deploy in 2023 but that's by no means guaranteed
