buyside to buyside recruiting

I know the buyside recruiting process from ib is headhunters reaching out during the first year, etc. But how does this work if you’re starting out at a buyside shop right after college?

Current option is to start at a 20bn+ shop after graduation and am in the process with a couple of other smaller places. What would the process look like if I want to shift after a year/two? Would I have to reach out to headhunters or do something differently since most places look for 2 year ib guys? I know I can leverage my networks at some places but not sure how structured the process is if you’re starting out on the buyside
