Can a FA switch to IB?

Currently a Financial Analyst 2 at a fortune 30 company. Didn’t go to a target school but have completed Wall Street Prep: Financial Modeling, Accounting, and Excel courses. Also have my SIE license. Any advice on how to get into IB? Is it even possible?

Research Analyst in IB - CB

You don't need to go to an m7 to get into banking, but T25 is what the OP should aim for.

Indiana University is T20.

Top 25 you still have a chance but it gets a lot harder... not sure that I would spend $200k + miss 2 years of salary without knowing you have a very very easy path to IB. M7 is easy peasy to land banking and exits start to drop off pretty significantly after the top 15

With finance background if OP can get a decent GMAT they should be able to land at least top 15

Analyst 2 in IB-M&A

doable but will take some luck, I went from big 4 accounting to IB. Don't see why financial analysis couldn't dovetail into IB if you can sell that you are also well versed in the field you're trying to get into (M&A, cap markets, etc). Maybe see if you can connect with anyone in corpdev who might have some ad hoc work for you to do

How were you able to make the switch?
