Can referrals get me the job (IBD)?

I have 2 analyst referrals, 3 VP referrals, 2 ED/D referrals, and 3 MD referrals from a non target at a BB Barclays/BofA/DB/Citi. Could these references make them more likely to extend me an offer? Do they help at all beyond getting the superday?

Referrals can significantly boost your chances, especially coming from a non-target school. Based on the most helpful WSO content, referrals are particularly impactful in getting your resume noticed and securing an interview or superday. However, once you're in the interview process, the focus shifts entirely to your performance.

Having multiple referrals across different levels (analysts, VPs, EDs, MDs) is a strong advantage as it shows you’ve built a solid network and have people vouching for you. That said, the ultimate decision will depend on how well you perform during the superday and how you stack up against other candidates.

In short, referrals are crucial for opening doors, but they won't guarantee an offer. Nail the technicals, behavioral questions, and demonstrate your fit for the role to maximize your chances.
