Career Path Advice

Hi WSO Community,

I’m reaching out to tap into the wealth of knowledge here as I navigate the early stages of my career. I recently graduated with a degree in Public Relations, but I’ve always had a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Alongside my PR studies, I took multiple business courses to broaden my skill set and explore different career paths.

I’m excited to share that I’ve just landed my first role as a Commercial Real Estate Investment Sales Analyst at a small boutique firm. While I’m thrilled about this opportunity, I’m also looking for advice on how to make the most of it and plan my next steps.

Here are a few specific questions I have:

  1. What key skills should I focus on developing in my current role to excel in the commercial real estate investment field?

  2. What are some effective strategies for networking within the commercial real estate industry, especially as someone who’s just starting out?

  3. Given my background in PR and interest in business and entrepreneurship, what potential career paths could I consider within or related to commercial real estate?

  4.  Any books, websites, or other resources you’d recommend for someone in my position?

I appreciate any insights or advice you can offer. I’m eager to learn and grow in this industry and am open to any suggestions that can help me succeed.

Thank you!
