Career/Transition Suggestions in RE

Quick Summary:

In my early 30's, graduated in finance from a non-target school with solid grades. Happened to stumble into hospitality business shortly thereafter and became a managing partner of a multi-concept F&B group. Thought I was going to be the next Ian Schrager (even made a play for small boutique hotel with investors) but personal reasons resulted in me selling to partners and moving along.

Started in CRE brokerage and have been there for about 4 years now. Lots of fundamental experience on the front lines and some "back of the napkin" development we did in house. I'm ready to move on to a principal investor/developer and even relocate, but having some trouble. My excel skills are not near as good as what most other's seem to be but I have been taking modeling courses and bootcamps online. I've applied to some analyst position in AM and even Development Associate positions, but it seems I'm either too old for the analyst programs or don't have have enough hard skills for other positions (I am completely fine with the "take 2 steps back" scenario and busting my butt doesn't bother me at all).

Do I just need to bury myself in the modeling courses for another 6 months to a year and add that on my resume or maybe look at MBA (RE concentration) or MRED? Any feedback from you guys, and girls, in the mix would be of great help!
