CC Student seeking out mentor/internship
Hello All,
I am currently a community college student and I am interested in pursuing Finance and not sure which direction I want to head into. I was hoping there was a way to get exposed to the industry via mentoring or internship so I can understand what is out there. I do have 12 years of IT experience but decided to switch careers and return back to school.
I am hoping I could network through here and end up with a mentor/internship, not sure if it is common but I thought I ask.
Thank You!
if you’re 30+ I think the best best is to get an MBA. most entry level finance roles won’t look at anyone too old unfortunately. I would suggest once you finish CC, transfer to the best 4-year college you can (there’s a thread on target/non-target schools and stuff). and then use their resources to land a role in finance. it may not be exactly what you want but you can convert it into a decent MBA and then do IBD or S&T or whatever at the big banks if that’s what you want. you’ll need a bachelors to start though so definitely get that B.S. or B.A. from the best school you can. I know Columbia has a school for non-traditional students - idk much else about it but it could be relevant
