CC to Stanford junior year

So I recently got admitted to Stanford as a transfer student in my junior year. I have a little bit of job experience and started a finance and investing club at my CC, but I'm concerned that I'm too late to the recruiting cycle and I don't want to delay graduation. My goal is to end up in IB, PE, or an activist fund. Any advice is great. Thanks

congrats. I also broke into a BB from CC. why don't you want to delay graduation? are you currently a junior with a 2025 graduation?

I would try to get any sort of a finance internship ASAP and it shouldn't be hard with the Stanford name. look at the boutiques that the Stanford Finance kids interned at before going to GS or wherever and try to recruit into there.

you might be able to get into an internship for the summer after your graduation and go from there

Junior graduating in 2025. I'm just not too sure about delaying graduation. If I did delay would it significantly help my chances? And if I did, what would I even do for the quater/year extra I get? Thanks

Would definitely give a significant improvement to your chances. You could recruit for 2025 SA processes to break into competitive banks, but if you didn’t delay graduation then you won’t have a shot because these processes are already almost completely wrapped up.

I was at a CC too and transferred my junior year to a non-target.

Delayed a semester so I could recruit the following cycle. Landed a MF PE role. Ton's on stanford alum in VC.

I would try to get an internship next summer in mm PE or VC (MF PE + BB IB is pretty much over/has been) and then recruit for FT at top IB or MF PE, with stanford you'll easily get interviews at the BB's and with some networking MF PE should be possible as well.

I think just get something interesting  for next summer, not a back office role at a well known bank.

Thanks a lot for this. I am also interested in equity research and want to see if that's a career option as my end goal is an activist fund. Would you say that recruiting is different for ER and should I maybe pursue an internship at a boutique there over the following summer? Thanks
