Comparing two lateral offers

Currently an Aso1 at a LMM shop in a LCOL area and received two very different offers (both in HCOL) that I’m having a hard time deciding between

Offer 1: Snr. Analyst at an EB. Would take a slight cut in base but drop back down to analyst level, with promotion likely in 2026

Offer 2: Aso1 at a tier-2 BB. Base comp would increase significantly, but the long-term prospects aren’t as strong as the EB

I think taking the step back down to sr analyst at EB would be better for your career long term but congratulations, both options are really great especially in this hiring market! If you’re interested in buyside you could also recruit more easily (don't have first hand experience on recruiting out of an EB but know people who have) and after your bonus I bet the total all-in isn’t too much different. You should also consider culture and fit if wanting to be a career banker, I’m assuming your hours at the EB will be worse depending on deal flow. I wouldn’t get too caught up in “BB tiers”, do you like your team/product/coverage and will you get solid reps is most important at this stage. Best of luck!
