Connecting on LinkedIn

While working as an analyst, is it appropriate to connect with clients and PE professionals on LinkedIn with who you've had decent interaction? I am open to staying in banking so I am not actively trying to exit, but feel it doesn't hurt to grow my network either. Probably overthinking this, but are there any downsides to this that I may not be considering? Would it reflect poorly on myself or my bank?

My practice, which I believe has served me pretty well, is that it’s okay to connect with clients on LinkedIn if you’re regularly emailing them or sending them files. That can be with PE clients as well. That’s definitely okay, no dispute.

So you had one call with a potential buyer for your client. Eh, I probably wouldn’t. I keep tabs on all that, but probably wouldn’t stick out my neck with an invite or an ask.
