Cover letters-short questions for everyones benefit
Done some searches on this, but haven't gotten great answers so..
When submitting cover letters online/by email, how do you know which address to use at the top? If applying to 2 cities, which should you use? (first choice or NY?) It seems like BBs have several addresses in NYC. Or do you even need the address online?
Who should it be addressed to? If they recruit on campus, do I need a specific name? What if they don't recruit here? Or can I just go with "To whom it may concern" no matter what?
If submitting by email (like many boutiques), should the cov let and resume be 2 attachments, 1 attachment together, or have the cov lett in the email body?
Any answers much appreciated. I'm sure answers here would be helpful to many more than me.
As for a complete address, I just wrote the city and state i.e.: Morgan Stanley Investment Banking Analyst New York, NY
I always wrote: Dear Madam or Sir and put contact names in the first paragraph i.e. I have spoken with [] and []
Two attachments, PDF
If it is error free, you should be good, from what I can tell, the rest doesn't really matter.
So you didn't put an actual address?
Not a detailed one, just the city -- just make sure it looks good. Honestly your time is better spent networking than obsessing about how you write an address. Make sure there are no errors and all the information is present and move on.
What do you mean by "information is present"?
