CRA Public Finance
I am a recent graduate starting at a Big 3 CRA (Moody's, S&P, and Fitch) this upcoming month. My hope is to gain the necessary skills from the CRA and exit to the Buy Side. What are my exit opportunities if I am covering Healthcare and Higher Education in the Public Finance Group? I am assuming HF/AM Munis is an option with the right networking, but what else is out there for someone in my position?
Idk about hf/am. At my firm, the muni analyst talks about how cra's are always behind the ball. Check out Hartford debt. Does the historical ratings really make sense given all the financial evidence at that time? MBA would open up your options though.
I would imagine maybe credit at an AM. I don't know what else really. I have seen the occasional banker but that's after they have spent 20 years at a rating agency
Would you recommend an MBA and/or CFA? If so, how necessary is that?
