Your time would be better spent getting a strong gpa, working in a (relevant) internship during school, understanding the recruiting process, networking, prepping for interviews, understanding basics of modeling, etc. College is also a time to make friends and build a network that will be useful later on in life. If you go to a non-target, it might be a little late but you can consider transferring while you are an underclassman, although it is certainly an extreme option.

Do you even know what kind of IB? Based on your question I think you should be learning a lot more about the field before thinking about small factors like this.

That being said, luck is a factor in recruitment. People may be more inclined to bond with you if you share a common interest. Sports show work ethic, but are also a huge commitment. If you have already exhaustively accomplished all that is stated above, then sure, being an athlete is always a minor plus. In your case it sounds like you're just trying to check off boxes though. Recruiters can spot an ingenuine candidate from a mile away.
