Data-driven, intellectually stimulating, people-facing Job in Finance

Hello community,

I am not sure if this is the appropriate sub forum (if there is any) for what I am looking for. So feel free to move this post, if I am in the wrong place here. In essence, I am looking for career advice.

My Background:

I am about to graduate from a good research focused econ school in Europe and will most likely pursue one of the top MFE programs in Europe after. I'd say I have a quite quantative background (for econ) with good econometric skills. I am currently working on my final project (whatever you call that in the US) which involves a lot of messy data and through which I am learning some data-related programming ( probably one of the most satisfying learning experiences I've had). At the same time, I believe that working with and presenting in front of people is my real strong suit, so that I definitely prefer outward facing (is that what people refer to as front office in banking?) position. I am interested in Tech, VC (mostly growth), HF (certain kinds) and everything data related.

I do not have any pure finance work experience, yet. Instead I have interned at a well known econ consulting shop. I enjoyed the work I did there on an intellectual level but I think that it is too niche for an entry job (especially because the MBA route isn't quite the same for Europeans)

I don't believe I am physically and mentally able to deal with the stress of the IB Divisions at BB, consulting sounds intreaguing in theory, but the mindless PP-heavy day-to-day of it seems boring and the opposite of "skill - sharpening" (on a technical level).

Basically, the deployment strategist position at Palantir (cannot link for lack of bananas. there are other, similar positions in tech) seems like the perfect job for me.

So I am asking: can you think of any other careers/ entry jobs that fit my interests?

I am not too hung up about pay and prestige.

Sorry for the long post.

Cheers,

Rep_LR

Thanks for your reply, Coreytrevor. I'll ahve a closer look. Could you please elaborate, though? I find it difficult to extrapolate from what a "finance function" generally entails to what junior people tend to there day-to-day.
