Deciding what you want to do
I am 20 years old going into my junior year of college. I am interested in finance but have no idea what I want to go in to. I read the WSJ, Seeking Alpha, MarketSnacks, MorningBrew, among others and really enjoy learning about the news pertaining to mergers, acquisitions, and changes in the markets. I feel like there are many types of jobs that have different responsibilities, hours, pay, etc. and I am having trouble deciding what to pursue.
I am having trouble understanding how someone at my age decides they want to go in to a certain job and devote so much time to preparing to interview when they do not really know what they are getting into. I am hesitant to decide to get into something like IB and prepare heavily for interviews to realize I hate what I am doing.
I was wondering if anyone had advice, websites, database, or information on the types of jobs in finance and what they do in order to help me narrow my search and put my best effort towards one position versus many.
Thanks
