Personally, I would just frame your relationships as the mentor - mentee type, where you provide him the opportunity to mentor you if that makes sense. Ask for more book recommendations, ask for advice regarding college descisons if you want to go into finance, classes he would recommend taking in college, and life advice and shit. Doing this gives you an excuse to update him once every 7 months or so, so you don't pester him constantly, and once in a while you can set up a phone call to talk about more granular subjects that would be difficult to talk about over email. I'm very average at networking, so maybe someone else can comment on this but I think the trick here is to space it out, with ample time in between your varying points of contacts so your reconnections are actually substantive with conversational material. I think this is a good opportunity but this won't be your gateway into IB most likely, you just have to play the numbers game come sophomore year and I think this is decent practice. Good luck!
