As many as possible. You get a lot less responses than you think and will encounter more shitty or unhelpful calls than you anticipate. As long as your aren’t spamming these ppl all in one week u should be fine

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights on networking numbers and strategies for the upcoming recruiting cycle:

  1. Total Groups to Network With:

    • It's suggested to network with a large number of people to increase your chances. One user mentioned contacting nearly 600 people, with around 200 responding positively. Another user contacted more than 120 people, with a response ratio between 1/3 and 1/4.
  2. Percent/Number of Networking Calls:

    • From the 600 contacts, about 200 responded positively, and 100 resulted in email or phone conversations. This indicates a success rate of approximately 16.7% for initial responses and about 8.3% for actual conversations.
    • Another user mentioned that out of 120 contacts, 15-20% were willing to pass their CV to HR or inform them about opportunities.
  3. Firms to Have Good Networking Calls With by Interview Season:

    • It's crucial to have a solid number of good networking calls. One user suggested that having 10-15 networking calls is a successful rate. Another user emphasized the importance of continuing to network until you secure an offer, as it is a numbers game.

Additional Tips: - Track Your Progress: Keep an Excel sheet to track who you spoke to, the last time you spoke, and what you discussed. - Quality vs. Quantity: While it's important to have a high number of contacts, ensure the quality of your conversations. Aim for meaningful connections that can lead to referrals or introductions to key people in the recruitment process. - Persistence: Continue networking even if you feel you have enough contacts. The process can take months, and persistence is key.

In summary, aim to network with a large number of people, track your progress, and focus on both quality and quantity of your networking calls. By the time interview season comes, having solid connections with multiple firms will significantly boost your chances.
