Deleting old jobs on Linkedin profile to avoid ageism? Is it a good idea?
I'm a millennial so I have some jobs from 10+ years ago listed on my resume. Thinking of deleting the first couple of jobs I had after graduating undergrad.
Does it help to list your entire job history on Linkedin or do you think ageism can hurt you instead?
I've seen people do it. I plan to do the same after my next job (deleting my first 2 jobs as they're highly irrelevant to my current career path.
If you're e.g. a 35 year old associate maybe if it makes you feel better about being way older than your cohort. Keep in mind all past employment dates + graduation dates will show up on background checks, so if somebody is really determined to exclude you based on age, they still could.
TBH, I've been really surprised about things from my past that have been a differentiator / advantage in this industry... I broke into a cool off-market SaaS deal recently because my part-time high school job was in their end market. You never know what might come about with that experience highlighted.
How does this really help when your resume will have your entire work history? Or do you plan to synch your resume to your linkedin?
I plan to synch resume to linkedin
