Deloitte resume mistake best path forward
This past fall I accepted an offer to join Deloitte's advisory practice. This past month I noticed a mistake on my resume submitted to the firm; the end date for one of my internships is listed as August, but it actually ended July 31st. This was an honest mistake, thought admittedly I could have checked more thoroughly. The internship was almost two years ago and I didn't have the original offer letter to cross-check.
I emailed my HR contact when I noticed the mistake, but she did not reply and that was several weeks ago. I realize the date is something that could be considered irrelevant, or serious, so I'm not sure the best way to move forward. I know they will verify dates for employment when they complete the background check. Does anyone have experience with first advantage? Will I be able to give them the correct start date, or should I email HR again and point out the mistake.
Its a couple days difference, no big deal. E-mail HR and mention that you were going through paperwork an noted that your internship officially ended on 7/31 rather than 8/1. Explain that you wanted to notify them in case it matters. Won't be a deal breaker unless you have other "mistakes" on your resume.

I'll follow your advice. Everything on my resume is truthful, my only concern is the date of the internship, and the start date for some summer work for a not-for-profit (from 3 years ago) I was unable to confirm. It's one of those stupid things that is totally my fault, but hopefully they'll see it as an honest mistake.

You're right. HR emailed back today basically saying don't worry about it and just give the correct dates to the background vendor.
Obviously not a big deal, but most things feel like a big deal when it's your first real job at risk
