Did my persistence pay off?
I started interviewing at a fund back in March. Went on three rounds, met the traders, the PM and the analyst I would be working with. Performed two case studies and wrote up another two pitches of my own. Got as far as to get through the final round (spoke $, gave them references, etc.) and was pretty pleased with my chances. It was then that I received an call suggesting things were on hold due to recent turbulence at the fund. I kept my head up and continued to follow up with the analyst once every month, then slowed to once every other month. Fast forward to December. We hadn't spoken in about 8 weeks and I received an e-mail from the PM saying “Let’s schedule some time in early January to get together for a coffee.” I’m trying to plan accordingly for this, and as of now I can see the possible scenarios ranging from a blue sky situation (we want to offer you the job) to a more onerous one (we want to thank you for the time, but we’re never hiring you ever). I’m just curious what types of outcomes do you guys think can come of this.
