Doctor to business: Advice?

Asking for a friend: Just graduated with undergrad biology degree as I was trying to become to Doctor, but decided that is not for me and and transitioning to business.

I enrolled to get a Masters in Business Analytics in the Fall and would appreciate any advice on how to start a good career with a decent job. I have not done any internships and am looking for a good head start. Any resources would be appreciated.

I agree that business related experience helps, but at the same time, I went to B school with some people who were chemists, etc - and had never touched a finance textbook in their lives. I also don't think that adding a business analytics program will help. There's a fallacy that more degrees/certifications with help one enter the work-force; practical job experience always wins. Plus, I don't find the concept of double-debt appealing (business analytics / MBA, not to mention undergrad, unless all of this is already fully paid).

As an alternative, you can also take an accounting class on Coursera / Wall Street Prep and learn exactly what you would in an MBA school. Some B Schools even broadcast classes on YouTube.
