Does Applying Late to Sophomore Summer IB Internships Hurt Your Application?

I'm currently a rising sophomore at a target school. I'm a female, interested in pursuing one of the diversity IB summer 2021 internships for sophomores. However, my freshman year GPA is relatively low (3.4 ish) because of a very rigorous course load. My course load for my next two semesters will be substantially easier, I am expecting to a cumulative 3.7 GPA once I finish my sophomore fall semester in December.

That being said, I know sophomore IB internships are going to open up soon, and I was wondering if I should apply earlier with my low GPA (3.4) or apply towards mid-December with my estimated higher GPA (3.7). I've heard that IB internship applications are selected on a rolling basis, so I'm not sure what would be the better situation in my case.

Thanks so much for the help!!

don’t wait until after first semester after that it’ll be too late. start networking ASAP and apply whenever the banks you want to intern at open up. if this doesn’t work and you are at a target, look up where past bankers from your school interned their sophomore year and try to get those strong internships after your 3rd semester.
