Does target school matter for non-IB roles?

Will a kid from a non-target or semi-target have lower odds than a kid from a target school for non-IB roles? Obviously target school students may have an advantage given that they may have better scores, ECs, etc. But I’m strictly talking about the impact of school prestige on job prospects for non-IB roles.

Someone I know once told me that the more technical a role is, the less exclusive they are to target schools.

It makes sense in a way - most people could work as an analyst (albeit maybe not for the same hours), so IBs have to filter out people somehow. Going to target is a general (far from perfect) measure of strength.

Technical roles have OAs or projects that they can look at to see how strong a candidate is. Albeit most strong candidates WILL go to an Ivy, but that’s more of a correlation thing rather than causation.
