Does the rank of your interviewer matter?

Hi,
I am applying for the summer associate internship in IB. Please, I would like to know if the position of one's phone interviewer is a clue about one’s chances: there has been 2 months between my first phone screening with a VP and my 2nd phone interview with a BB. Meantime, I got an offer and notified my phone screener about it - I also told him that I had to sign the contract by March, but I received no feedback from the HR for 1 month. Then, suddenly and without warning, an MD phoned me and interviewed me. At the beginning of the interview, she told me that they were thinking about inviting some candidates to NY. At the end of the interview, she just told me that one of her colleagues would contact me. Now, I don't know what to do if they do not contact me this week as March is looming. Therefore, should I email her in the middle of this week in order to remind her about my offer deadline? (though I guess that their HR does know)
Thanks!

If you got an call from an MD without warning, it sounds like someone in HR was nagging her about calling a list of candidates and the MD had been putting it off too long because her care factor was relatively low. Contacting her won't do much for you. Contact the HR people.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

Thanks, SSits! In fact, I got the HR email notification just before receiving her call and she told that she had just received my resume...

E-mail the HR contact (not the business contact) this Friday reminding her about your deadline, using something like the following to kick off the e-mail "As I discussed with you, [deadline stuff]. I also mentioned this to [business lady] on our call on Date." Follow that up with a statement about how you like the firm, are keen to work for them and want to get confirmation that you should not expect an offer from them before you accept the competing offer at the end of next week.

About 5-10 minutes after you send the e-mail, give her a call and run through essentially the same points in a pleasant conversation. This doubles up in the information, but ensures that she reads the e-mail in the right tone.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.
