dumb question but please answer

Hey before I ask my question, I ask you guys to not jump at me like you all do, just fyi its annoying when you guys start acting toxic since your in IB your ego is so high. Anyways what and how are the best ways to network. I am struggling on this factor the most. Does anyone have certain methods? Where can I go to network? I have the confidence in my talk Im just not sure where and how to find people and who to network with. Thanks, and if you’re going to reply with something stupid just dont. You dont have to be a big baby on a forums app and troll a beginner. Grow up.

Lmfao bro honestly, just find out as much as you possibly can about whoever you are going to network with. If it’s a coffee chat, beforehand comb through their entire online presence and learn what they like to do OUTSIDE OF WORK/where they’re from and try and find some connection to you. The first ten minutes of a conversation, don’t even talk about work, just get the person to like you and not think it’s a purely transactional conversation. Bring up some topics that “just happen to be mutual interests” that u researched earlier and get them talking. Once they feel comfortable, then you actually start “networking”.

thanks man I appreciate it. Im not even a freshman lol. Im a sophomore in highschool, I just always think its the best idea to start early and get a full view of everything before jumping in too late.

LinkedIn. Search investment banking (bonus points if they're from your school, but if not that's fine) and send a "form" email to analysts/associates - can add in a sentence if someone is an alum, but otherwise it should be fairly standardized so you can send them at volume. You're going to need to send a few hundred and few of them will actually become phone calls, but some will.

Not a dumb question. Although 80% of your question is just insulting people who are on this forum to help so I think that is why you are getting coated in monkey shit

also - seems like from your other posts you are in high school, please don't try to network with people right now... high schoolers networking is the type of stuff that gets sent around as a meme. Even freshman year is kind of early. Wait until sophomore year to do this, focus on getting into college for now.

Yeah very true, rn just focus on doing well in classes and reading about the industry. Also start developing healthy habits, working out, stay away from all the instagram bullshit and do whatever you enjoy. Keep it up and the sky is the limit.

Show them your cool Patrick Bateman profile pic and they’re sure to send you other cool guys to network with.

Currently recruiting can share my advice. LinkedIn will be your best friend. Go to the firm you are interested in networking in, go to the "people" section, filter your college, then filter "investment bank". Then you will see all alum in IB division. Click on profile, then go to Apollo.io website. Plug there name in and get there email. Shoot them a well made email and thats really all you can do. After emailing alums, remove your college and a ton more people will obv show up. Goodluck !!

Since you’re in high school, your goal is to get into a good college. But I’ll give some advice for college networking.

In college the best way to network is to go to company recruiting events, and be involved in a professional org. This is where you’ll meet people who you can connect with on LinkedIn and hopefully talk with, gain referrals, get advice, etc.

Other than that, your options are to just cold reach out on LinkedIn like another user here suggested.
