Equity Research Access

I am putting together a financial statement model for a public company to include with my resume to use when reaching out to some connections during my job search as a recent graduate. During my WSP course on financial modeling, a few growth rates/margins were taken from equity research reports, and the research was also used to ensure the model was in the same ballpark.

I have found it very hard to access any equity research reports. Does anyone know anywhere or any way I could access a report to assist me while creating my model? Also, if there is another way to forecast these drivers/margins accurately, I am all ears. Paying for the report is no issue.

If you're applying for ER, your whole job is to forecast and assume stuff - not use other people's assumptions because those assumptions should reflect *your* thesis. There is no such thing as forecasting accurately. It's all assumptions, no one knows the future, you can only make educated and sensible guesses. So figure out what drives margins and use that to inform where you think they'll go.

The exact mechanism you use depends entirely on the company, how they report, and what data you have access to but this is the whole job...

Thank you for the input. Sounds more intriguing and more of a fun process doing it this way. Just to clarrify for future readers, I’m interested in joining a boutique M&A firm. Aside, I recognize your point is just as valid.
