European target student aiming to break into Infra IB – Need Some Guidance

Hello monkeys,

I am looking for some advice on the best way to break into Infrastructure IB. Currently in undergrad at a top European business school (think HSG/WHU/Bocconi), solid GPA, involved in finance clubs, and have previous internships in AM and RE at reputable mid-sized firms. No IB experience yet, but I’m looking to make the jump, ideally into an infra-focused team at a BB/EB.

Would love to hear from anyone who’s made the transition—what’s the best way to position myself for an infra IB summer gig? Thinking of leveraging my RE/AM background, but not sure if that’s enough or if I should push for a LevFin/Restructuring internship first. Also, how important is technical prep for infra vs. generalist IB?

Appreciate any insights—thank you for your support!!
