I’m not in CLO structuring, but have done work in the CLO space in the past from what I’ve seen the modelling seems to involve looking at cash flows on each payment date over the life of the deal. It looked somewhat simple with maybe an XIRR function used to calculate equity distriubutions each payment date. Sometimes I saw people play around with things like goal seek to tweaking to see how changes in purchase price and WACD( weighted average cost of debt for CLO liabilities) affect final equity IRR and deciding whether deals make sense to print or not. I wish I could give more info, but I’ve forgotten a lot of the stuff since moving roles.
